Disorders of Tryptophan transport and metabolism give rise to a variety of sometimes severe
clinical abnormalities. In some cases these abnormalities can be treated very easily. For this
reason Ansynth has dedicated a substantial part of her resources to the creation and maintenance
of our unique Indole Analysis Service on behalf of all healthcare professionals.
Intestinal and/or renal Tryptophan malabsorption can cause abnormal indolic metabolites
to occur in urine. Also the analysis of kynurenine metabolic pathway metabolites in urine
can be used to detect a disturbed intermediary metabolism of Tryptophan in the liver.
Indole analysis is therefore a very powerful instrument to detect and diagnose disorders
of Tryptophan transport and metabolism.
Clinical indications for these disorders are:
We can estimate the quantitative excretion in urine of many Tryptophan metabolites, such as:
N-Acetyl-tryptophan, 5-OH-indole-3-acetic Acid, 3-OH-kynurenine, 5-OH-tryptophan, 5-OH-tryptamine (Serotonin),
Indole-3-acetic Acid, Indole-3-propionic Acid, 3-Indoxylsulphate (Indican), Kynurenic Acid, Kynurenine and Xanthurenic Acid.
All we need is a small well prepared sample of urine!
When in doubt about the correct way to prepare your samples, please refer to these
intructions or contact us first before sending them in.

Analysis results will be presented by means of a certificate of analysis, checked and signed by
a member of our Quality Assurance Unit. Analysis results in physiological fluids will be
given with normal range values, and if necessary an expert judgement by a clinical chemist
specialized in the metabolic field can be provided. Where applicable the CoA will be in the format
and layout of your choise. CoA's will be sent by regular postal service and by fax, usually within
2 - 5 working days after receipt of the samples. If required results are also sent by e-mail,
in a format ready to import into your data management system. Turn around times depend on number of
samples and types of analyses to be performed, but will normally never extend a period of 10 working
days. Of course all data will always be handled with the utmost confidentiallity.
For additional information please refer to our current pricelist.
When sending in samples please send them directly to our analysis department and include a filled out
copy of this orderform.
If this page does not answer your questions or otherwise does not provide sufficient information,
